Socially Responsible/Sustainable Business Plan Competitions

You will find many more business plan competitions, essay writing and alternative funding sources for your DREAM project, career and Ideas on our website than you ever imagine.

You will want to know, is mobilizing local resources, generating income, developing cost recovery schemes, even starting a business a safe, quick - fix? Of course not. It is no less risky than a business start-up and requires no less time, energy, and resources.

The business plan competition is an outgrowth of many partnership organizations in the world today and designed to foster greater success of local resource mobilization strategies through more thorough planning in the areas of marketing and business development. Some competition involved intensive training and mentoring by both MBA students and professionals from the international consulting firms.

Finalists working with their mentors will develop business plans, including a financial analysis, an organizational diagnostic, and a marketing strategy. From the finished business plans, the panel selected the best business plan.  These students, organizations and graduates then receive seed capital to launch their strategies.

You will find below some ongoing competitions/Essay/Grants for your consideration;

Student Essay Competition (SEC)

The competition will award one (1) undergraduate student prize of US$10,000 and one (1) graduate student prize of US$20,000. The submission deadline is November 15, 2008 at midnight Eastern Standard Time (EST). Winners will be announced on February 7, 2009.

Global Social Entrepreneurship Competition (GSEC) 2009. WASHINGTON DC. USA

A business plan competition that invites students & graduates from Africa, East & Central Asia, India, and the U.S. and across disciplines to find creative & commercially sustainable ways to reduce poverty through new business development & Social Entrepreneurship. Deadline is 25th October 2008.

All Qualifiers will receive Return Ticket to Seattle Washington, USA by February 2009 with cash Prize of $12,500

Idea for Mini Grant

Organizer only Fund projects that specifically relate to enterprise-based solutions to poverty. Further, we typically support research, the development of writing and other media, conferences, and similar projects.

If you have an enterprise-based solution to poverty project and require a small seed investment to catalyze or advance your effort - take a shot and tell us more about it. Should you have additional questions, please contact funds@dtcnigeria.org prior to submitting your mini-grant request.
